Doing Good

Entering October, green leaves started to turn yellowish, people in the street started to layer themselves with jackets. I still find this weather bearable. Sometimes even feel hot especially with the sun hanging up high in the sky.

Life during school time is pretty normal. Having class early in the morning then lunch, followed by going back home and sleep. But the previous week was really an amazing week whereby we were given the chance to dissect cadavers to have a life observation on the blood circulation structure located at the lower limb during our anatomy practical class. Other than the irritating formalin smell, the dissection was fun. It requires skill while dissecting. You have to measure the exact depth when you use the scalpers in order not to cut off the veins or arteries located between the fascia layer and the deep fascia layer (inside the fats layer). It’s quite unlucky for us to get a bigger sized cadaver with more fats and hence, it’s harder to find all the veins like Great Saphenous Vein. Anyway, we do get to see it around from the other groups. After we came out from anatomy lab, we all smell like the cadavers. One thing for sure, cadavers and actual human are so much more different from the hardness of the skin to the life involving matter.
As for cell biology, we went to the other campus to have our cell biology class. After an hour lecturer, we were finally given the chance to touch the microscope. First we tried out with cheek cells, onion cell and frog’s muscle. The first two was nothing new as we had done those similar experiments during secondary school time. For the muscle cell, it looks nothing special than I had expected but the one Joanna did (she took the part with veins) was quite interesting. We also took the spare time to look around at the other cells.

Actually we are having one week holiday now due to China independent day. Instead of travelling around, I spent more time shopping. If you know me, you probably know that I don’t shop but just accompany my friends. When “just accompanying” appears, I become part of the participant in shopping. I can sense that Envira is slowly turning into a shopaholic. Things over here, especially cloths are super cheap (if you don’t enter those branded shops). Lucky for us to have senior, Jaznie who knows how to bargain the price well. If not, we surely got cheated by them. Still, I prefer the Envira who always stays indoor. I will try not letting myself go out after this week. For Carrefour, I had been to there for the third time within a week. We are getting better and better by not taking the bus but walk all the way from there to and from our apartment. Each journey roughly took about 30minutes, depending on our speed. Walking, we just started to get use to it.

As for church, I haven’t manage to find one but it’s a good news to know that people around me, especially the Chinese classmates in my class are all Christians. Hopefully we will be able to find one soon.
